Below are a few common crystals and their spiritual uses. This is a very short list and I recommend checking out books on the subject that go into much more detail and have many more stones. Also note that new stones and different varieties are found all the time. Quartz comes in many forms, each with its own meaning. Clear is great for amping other crystals and your own personal power. Rose Quartz teaches about self-love and compassion. Citrine brings joy and chases away negativity. Smoky Quartz is protective.
Obsidian is a natural glass and is extremely protective. It can also be used to deflect negative energies. It comes in several varieties including Rainbow, Mahogany, Gold Sheen and Silver Sheen.
Tourmaline is another protective stone, especially Black Tourmaline. It also comes in a variety of other colors. Red is great for grounding and connecting to your Base Chakra, Pink teaches about love and kindness, Green heals and connects to the Heart. There's even mixtures, such as Watermelon Tourmaline.
Beryl is a group of gemstones with as many uses as colors. Emerald is a symbol of loyalty and love. Aquamarine teaches about calmness and is great to meditate with. Morganite helps connect us to universal and divine love.
There are several crystals in this family as well. Two of the most famous are rubies and sapphires. Rubies inspire passion and creativity while Sapphires help with focus and activating the Third Eye.
Calcite looks similar to quartz but has a waxy feel when in its raw form. Clear amplifies and cleanses, Mangano is a stone of nurturing, Blue helps with relaxation, Gold helps in meditation, Green helps us release old patterns, Optical is a seers stone, Orange cleanses and energizes, Pink helps release fear, Red helps with will power and Yellow uplifts the mood.
Carnelian comes in a deep orange-red or pink. It is wonderful for helping to heal mother-wounds and teaches us to nurture ourselves.
Flourite is extremely colorful and comes in almost any shade you can imagine, even clear. Rainbow Flourite is the most commonly seen. Flourite helps us break up old patterns and can be helpful when working through sexual or emotional trauma.
This stone is the beginners protective stone. It's great for those who might not be comfortable working with black tourmaline or other protective stones.
There are several varieties of Jasper and almost all of them are very grounding and protective. They help connect us to our lower Chakras and with Earth energies.
Moonstone is wonderful for psychic and intuitive work. Green Moonstone helps with emotional work related to the heart, Black Moonstone is wonderful for clearing, Peach Moonstone is a terrific healer, especially for the feminine.
Selenite is a Master Cleanser. While other stones can also cleanse, Selenite is not supposed to ever need cleansing.
